Ayoub Barissoul has published his article "A meta-analysis of trade-offs between agricultural production and ecosystem services: a biplot-based synthesis"

Agriculture is constantly expected to fulfill many tasks at once: producing sufficient food, remaining economically viable, protecting biodiversity, reducing environmental impacts, and supporting overarching sustainability goals. However, these goals do not always align, which is why it is important to clearly understand the trade-offs that arise. Ayoub Barissoul addresses these issues in his doctoral dissertation and now also in a newly published study.

In this study, Ayoub Barissoul and his co-authors, Christine Wieck and Stefan Hirsch, reviewed and summarized findings from the literature and developed a biplot-based approach to present conflicting goals and synergies in a more structured and comparable way. The goal was to make complex relationships between production and ecosystem services easier to interpret across studies, indicators, and contexts.
