Die Lehr- und Forschungsaktivitäten und Beiträge zum gesellschaftlichen Diskurs fokussieren auf Beschreibung, Verständnis und Ausgestaltung der deutschen, europäischen und internationalen Agrar- und Ernährungspolitik in einer globalisierten Welt.

Unser Ziel ist es, mit innovativen Lösungsansätzen zu globalen Herausforderungen der Agrar- und Ernährungswirtschaft und Bioökonomie beizutragen und mit einer exzellenten Lehre und Forschung die Studentinnen und Studenten an der Universität Hohenheim zu begeistern.

Die Grundlage zur Erreichung dieses Zieles ist eine empirisch basierte, interdisziplinäre und methodisch innovative polit-ökonomische Forschung und eine forschungsgeleitete Lehre.

Agrivoltaics allow to produce food and energy on the same land and thus can contribute to food and energy security. However, it was unknown to what degree shading impacts crop yields – which is needed to optimize agrivoltaic systems and to conduct economic analyses. A new meta-analysis published in “Agronomy for Sustainable Development” authored by institute staff members and fellow Hohenheim researcher now quantify the yield responses to shading.

Knoll European Science Award for his dissertation "Economy-wide modelling of seasonal labour and natural resource policies".The prize was awarded by the fiat panis foundation during the Tropentag conference in Hohenheim on September 9th, 2020. The jury highlights that Dr. Feuerbacher's research on rural labour markets and policy analysis is "of high practical relevance for millions of poor people living in the tropics".
